Oranges & Lemons

Formerly the Angel & Greyhound — relaunched under Morgan Pub Collective with craft beer and a strong beer garden.

Formerly the Angel & Greyhound, this St Clement's pub reverted to its earlier name — Oranges & Lemons — after being taken over by the Morgan Pub Collective (who also run The Grapes and the Gardeners Arms). The refurbishment kept the open-plan layout and the kitchen still runs from brunch through to dinner.

The beer garden is the main asset — it's large, partially covered, and catches afternoon sun. Inside, the space is open-plan and can feel a bit echoey when quiet, but fills nicely on busy evenings. It sits at the junction where the Cowley Road and Iffley Road diverge, which gives it a natural catchment from both directions.

What to order

The brunch is reliable — eggs done various ways, pancakes, good coffee. Evening food is standard but well executed. The craft beer taps rotate sensibly, and there are enough options to satisfy without overwhelming. Cocktails are available but not the strong suit.

The vibe

Sociable and accessible. It draws a mixed crowd — students, young professionals, east Oxford families on weekend mornings. Nothing here will surprise you, but nothing will disappoint either. A solid option rather than a destination, which is exactly what this part of town needs.
