Barefoot Coffee & Cake (North Parade)
RecommendedThe North Parade outpost of Barefoot — coffee and the cake counter from the Jericho bakery.
Independent cafes in Oxford — specialty roasters, brunch spots, and museum-side coffee. No chains.
Oxford's cafe scene is small but properly served by independents. For specialty coffee, the local roasters are Jericho Coffee Traders, The Missing Bean, and Colombia Coffee Roasters — all serving their own beans across one or more sites in town. Horsebox Coffee is the outdoor option outside the Natural History Museum.
For brunch and a longer sit, Vaults & Garden on King Edward Street is the most-loved option (relocated from its old Radcliffe Square crypt in late 2025). North of the centre, Barefoot on North Parade and Brew in Summertown both do good weekend brunches. The Covered Market holds half a dozen cafe options under one roof.
No chains are listed — Costa, Pret and Starbucks are easy to find without us. Use the filters below to narrow by area or to surface work-friendly, brunch, or takeaway spots.
