Viny's Cafe

A no-frills sandwich cafe on North Parade — breakfast wraps, baguettes and paninis with bread baked through the day.

visibility Open to all savings Good value

Viny's is a small, family-run sandwich cafe on North Parade Avenue, next door to Barefoot Coffee & Cake at #9. Recognisable by the red oval awning above the door and the window decals listing the day's offer: breakfast wraps, baguettes, paninis and jackets. A cheeky Tina-Turner-quoting slogan runs across the window in red, setting the tone. This is takeaway-first counter food, not a sit-down lunch venue, although there is a short bench inside for waiting and a couple of seats outside.

The proposition is simple: bread baked through the day, made-to-order sandwiches, a short hot list and the kind of pricing that has kept regulars coming back. The same faces have been behind the counter for years.

What to order

The breakfast wraps are the morning draw — bacon, sausage, egg and combinations of the same on a soft tortilla. Through the rest of the day the baguette and panini list rotates through the standards: chicken and bacon, tuna mayo, ham and cheese, BLT, and a daily vegetarian option. Homemade lasagne and a soup of the day round out the lunch counter, and the cake counter is small but kept fresh.

Good to know

Cash and card both accepted. The queue moves quickly — orders are made to order, not pre-built, so peak lunchtime can mean a five-minute wait. There is a second Viny's a short walk away on Banbury Road in Summertown; the menu is the same.
