Barefoot Coffee & Cake (North Parade)

The North Parade outpost of Barefoot — coffee and the cake counter from the Jericho bakery.

Barefoot started as a Jericho bakery and has since added two further outposts; the North Parade branch sits at #9, between the North Parade Market terrace and BREW at the eastern end of the strip. The shopfront keeps the cursive "Barefoot — Coffee & Cake" wordmark and the freestanding "B" logo on a rough-edged board in the window. It is unrelated to Barefoot Kitchen on the Cowley Road side of town, which trades as plant-based street food.

This branch is set up for sit-in coffee and the cake counter rather than the full bakery range. There are a handful of indoor tables, a longer bench down the side wall, and pavement seating when the weather allows. Bakes come from the Jericho kitchen — the brownies, cardamom buns and flourless chocolate cake travel well across the day.

What to order

The coffee is the everyday espresso programme — flat whites, lattes, filter — alongside hot chocolate and a short tea list. Cake is the draw: the cinnamon-and-cardamom buns are usually on the counter through the morning, and the brownie sells out fastest. They will box things up to take home, which is the better option if the room is full.

Good to know

It fills up on market Saturdays — the North Parade Market trades fortnightly between Woodstock Road and Banbury Road, and the queue at Barefoot tracks the queue at the market. Quieter on weekday mornings.
