2 North Parade Produce Store opened in September 2013 in the corner unit at the western end of North Parade Avenue. The deep-blue frontage with the address picked out in white above the window has become a recognisable landmark on the strip. Inside, the shop runs a tight selection of seasonal fruit and vegetables, British farmhouse cheese, dairy from local farms, charcuterie, artisan bread, and a small-supplier wine and beer list.

The buying ethos is the part of the shop that distinguishes it from the supermarket alternative on Banbury Road. The shop works directly with named producers — milk from North Aston Dairy, fresh cheese from Norton and Yarrow, locally roasted coffee, Oxford-grown asparagus in early summer. The range is small but everything on the shelf has a story attached.

What to buy

The cheese counter is the strongest section — a rotation of British farmhouse selections kept in good condition, with the staff happy to cut to order. The wine list is curated rather than encyclopaedic, leaning towards small producers and lower-intervention bottles. Bread comes in fresh through the morning. For everyday cooking, the seasonal vegetable shelf is the reason most regulars come in: it changes through the year and is priced to be used, not displayed.

Good to know

Closed Mondays. The shop pairs well with North Parade Market on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month — many customers do both stops in one trip. There is no parking on North Parade itself; nearest free parking is on the residential streets behind Banbury Road.
