Pegasus Theatre

The Pegasus Theatre is East Oxford's dedicated venue for theatre by and for children and young people. It sits on Magdalen Road, a short walk off the Cowley Road, in a purpose-adapted building with a flexible studio space, rehearsal rooms and a small foyer café.

The theatre operates as a registered charity (no. 1055305) and a company limited by guarantee (no. 03038190), with a stated mission to make theatre, dance and creative work accessible to children and young people in Oxford regardless of background. Its work splits roughly into three streams: youth companies (weekly term-time sessions for different age groups), a professional programme of touring children's theatre, and schools work.

What's on

The performance programme is pitched at family audiences — children's theatre matinees on weekends and school holidays, evening youth productions performed by Pegasus's own companies, and visiting shows from companies specialising in work for young audiences. Ticket prices are pitched low (most shows £5–£12) and there are concessionary schemes for families on lower incomes.

The youth-companies side is the larger half of the operation: weekly drama, dance, music and writing sessions across age bands from early years to late teens, plus an established Young Producers strand giving older teenagers experience programming, marketing and running events.

Visiting

The theatre sits on Magdalen Road, which runs west off the Cowley Road opposite the Truck Store. It is a short walk along Magdalen Road's row of shops and cafés, and ten minutes on foot from the Cowley Road itself. There is no dedicated car park — street parking on neighbouring residential roads. The foyer café is open during performance hours.
