Cutteslowe parkrun

Oxford's fastest parkrun — flat, fast, and friendly every Saturday at 9am.

If you're going to run one parkrun in Oxford, make it this one. Cutteslowe is the city's original and most popular parkrun, held every Saturday morning in Cutteslowe and Sunnymead Park in north Oxford. The course is flat, the paths are tarmac, and the community is welcoming in the way that only a weekly free running event can be. First-timers, sub-20 runners, people pushing buggies, dogs on leads — everyone's here.

This is the parkrun to choose if you want a PB. The surface is good, the course is fast, and there are no hills to speak of. If you want something more challenging, look at Shotover.

The route

Start: The pavilion area near the car park off Harbord Road

The course is two laps of the park on paved and well-maintained grass paths. It's essentially flat throughout — there's a very gentle incline on the north side that you'd struggle to call a hill.

Lap 1-2: You loop around the park's perimeter paths, passing the play areas, the miniature railway, and the walled garden. The course is well-marshalled with clear markings. In summer the park is beautiful; in winter it's exposed but the paths drain well.

The finish funnel is back near the pavilion. Collect your finish token, scan your barcode, and head to the cafe.

Who it's for

Beginners and speed merchants alike. The flat course and large field mean you'll always have people around you at your pace. It's the most sociable of the Oxford parkruns — the post-run cafe culture is strong here. If you're visiting Oxford and want a single parkrun experience, this is the safe choice. If you want adventure, try Shotover instead.
