The Royal Blenheim

A down-to-earth real ale pub just off the beaten track in St Ebbes.

The Royal Blenheim sits on St Ebbes Street, close enough to the Westgate Centre to catch passing trade but far enough from the tourist circuit to maintain a local feel. It's a White Horse Brewery pub, which immediately tells you the ales will be well looked after.

The interior is traditional without being twee — wooden floors, a proper bar, and enough space to not feel cramped. There's no garden to speak of, but the front tables catch afternoon sun. It's the kind of pub where you nod at the regulars and nobody bothers you if you want to sit in a corner with a book.

What to order

White Horse ales are the backbone — the Village Idiot and Oxford Gold are reliable choices. Guest ales rotate regularly and are usually well chosen. Wine and spirits are available but clearly an afterthought.

The vibe

Quiet and unhurried. This is a pub for people who like pubs — no gimmicks, no theme nights, just well-kept beer in a comfortable room. It can feel empty on weekday afternoons, but that's a feature, not a bug.
