The Gardeners Arms
A fully vegetarian pub on a Jericho backstreet — with a garden that lives up to the name.
The Gardeners Arms is a fully vegetarian pub now run by the Morgan Pub Collective (who also operate The Grapes and Oranges & Lemons). Despite the change of management, the vegetarian focus continues. Hidden away on Plantation Road, a quiet residential street in Jericho, it's the kind of place you have to know about to find.
The food is the standout. The menu changes regularly and goes well beyond the usual veggie pub cliches. Expect creative dishes using seasonal ingredients, with vegan options well represented. Even committed carnivores come away impressed. The portions are generous and the prices are fair.
What to order
Whatever the kitchen special is that day. The regular menu is good, but the specials are where the creativity shines. The ale selection is solid — several cask options, well kept, with at least one from a local brewery. The garden is pleasant in summer, with a proper herbaceous border that justifies the name.
The vibe
Warm and community-minded. The Gardeners Arms attracts an eclectic mix of Jericho residents, environmentally conscious students, and people who've heard about the food. Quiz nights are popular. The atmosphere is gentle and inclusive — one of those pubs where everyone seems to be having a good time without anyone being particularly loud about it.
