Brothers Café
Independent café-deli on Avenue 3 of the Covered Market — Greek and Mediterranean home cooking alongside English breakfasts, sandwiches and cakes.
Brothers Café trades from Avenue 3 of the Covered Market, next to The Hat Box and opposite Taylors. The kitchen leans on a Greek and Mediterranean repertoire — souvlaki, spanakopitakia, moussaka, falafel, Greek salads, with baklava, ravani and kataifi among the sweets — but the counter also runs through English breakfasts, hot and cold sandwiches and made-to-order baguettes, with halal, vegetarian, vegan and wheat-free options. The café is run by Manos V, also linked to the earlier Manos Cafe Deli at the same site.
A short word on names. Brothers Café is not the same operation as The Souvlaki Brothers, a separate Covered Market vendor at Unit 121, Avenue 4, opened in 2018 by brothers Panny and Yan whose family is from Chios. Both stalls serve souvlaki, and casual reviews routinely conflate the two — if you have a recommendation in mind, check the avenue and the unit number before you order.
Most of the meat comes from fellow market traders M Feller and Daughter and David Johns, with olives and olive oil from a Greek supplier. There's bench seating along the front of the stall — useful if you want to sit with a coffee rather than take it away. Pair a breakfast or souvlaki here with a slice from The Cake Shop or a loaf from Hamblin Bread to take home.
