The Market Tap by Tap Social is a café, bar and bottleshop run by Tap Social Movement, the Oxfordshire social enterprise founded in 2016 to provide training and paid employment for people in prison and on release. The Covered Market unit was Tap Social's fifth Oxfordshire venue when it opened, occupying Units 60-62 in the central courtyard — what was previously Hedges Butchers. First announced in February 2020, the launch was delayed by the pandemic; a Christmas 2022 trial led to the official opening in May 2023.

The offer runs across three serving counters in a single space: eight craft beers on draught (with a cask line), wines, cocktails, and a curated bottleshop fridge of cans and bottles. Pastries and sourdough come from sister bakery Proof Social Bakehouse, and the coffee is roasted by Jericho Coffee Traders.

It is one of the market's anchor venues for Covered Market Nights, with late opening Thursday to Saturday — long after most stalls have shuttered. Pair a drink here with a panuozzo from Il Corno or a slice from Sartorelli's for a sit-down market lunch; the bar bill goes back into a business that, by Tap Social's own count, has provided more than 112,000 hours of paid employment to ex-offenders and prison leavers.
