Alpha Bar

Alpha Bar is the lunchtime queue you'll notice before you notice the stall itself. Located in the Covered Market, it serves enormous, customisable falafel wraps and boxes at prices that make the chain restaurants on the High Street look predatory. The falafel is freshly made, the salads are generous, and the hot sauces are properly hot.

You build your own wrap or box from the counter — choose your base, pick your salads, add halloumi or hummus if you want, and get a portion that will see you through the afternoon. The quality is consistent, the ingredients are fresh, and the value is exceptional by central Oxford standards. There's limited seating nearby in the market, but most people take their wraps to eat on the go or find a bench in Radcliffe Square.
