Covered Spuds
Jacket potato counter at stall 16A in the Covered Market — gluten-free and halal labelled, eight fillings on the warmer.
Covered Spuds is the Covered Market's jacket-potato counter at stall 16A, a father-and-daughter business serving oven-baked potatoes with rotating toppings. The format is the British market staple: cheap, fast, filling, and takeaway-friendly. It holds a 4-out-of-5 Food Standards Agency hygiene rating from its October 2025 inspection.
The counter is a single warmer cabinet with eight trays of pre-cooked filling — beans and cheese, chilli, tuna mayo, coleslaw and the standard cluster — ladled over a split-and-buttered potato to order. Allergen labelling on the trays is rotating; ask at the counter if gluten-free or halal matters for your meal. There is no sit-down area, so most customers carry the boxed potato out to the bench seating at the corner of the aisle.
A note on the building geography: a Whey Okay banner is visible above the stall from some angles. Whey Okay is a different vendor — a sports-nutrition counter at stalls 16B and 16C. If you are hunting for jackets, look for the Covered Spuds lettering on the hatch itself rather than the larger banner overhead.
